These Authentic Vintage Newfoundland Coin’s have been hand fashioned into a necklace by me. They hang on an 16 inch, 1.2mm Sterling Silver Ball Chain that’s made in Italy. 1943 is a special year for all those celebrating their 80th birthday!!! Please note that every coin is slightly different, making them unique just for you. If you are looking for a larger variety and live in town…..

Am excited to have my jewelry work in St. John’s at, N Design Studio, located at 100 Duckworth St.

A hand fashioned Republic of Newfoundland original gift item, especially good for birthday years....Nans, Great Nan’s, Pop’s Coming up for 80th, 1943

I’ve been buying my coins from a Newfoundlander coin collector who travelled (until Covid) all over the country and into the US to Coin conventions....yep, it’s a thing! Tony tell’s me that the Newfoundland Penny is becoming extremely scarce so after this year I’ll probably just be making the necklaces.

We usually think of gold and silver, and sometimes platinum and palladium, as precious metals: they are rare, or seen as alternative currencies, or both. But "increasingly, copper is a precious metal" too, says Alan Livsey in the Financial Times. 11.3.17

GEORGE VI SMALL CENTS

Newfoundland adopted the small cent in 1938 thru 1947, striking at the same standard as Canadian 1 cents with medal axis at 19.04 mm, 3.24 grams of 95.5% copper, 3% tin and 1.5% zinc,. 1938, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944 and 1947 were struck with the 1938 at the Royal Mint in London without a mint mark and all other at the Royal Canadian mint in Ottawa.
