I’ve been buying my coins from a Newfoundlander coin collector who travelled (until Covid) all over the country and into the US to Coin conventions....yep, it’s a thing! Tony tell’s me that the Newfoundland Penny is becoming extremely scarce so after this year I’ll probably just be making the necklaces.
Every coin is hand finished and not exactly the same though the pairs are very close.

Newfoundland adopted the small cent in 1938 thru 1947, striking at the same standard as Canadian 1 cents with medal axis at 19.04 mm, 3.24 grams of 95.5% copper, 3% tin and 1.5% zinc,. 1938, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944 and 1947 were struck with the 1938 at the Royal Mint in London without a mint mark and all other at the Royal Canadian mint in Ottawa. |
